God Cannot Lie
Introduction
People have totally misunderstood the way that God works in the world . . . both in the Old Testament, and in today’s world, so they certainly will misunderstand the judgment to come as prophesied in the Book of Revelation. He brought about judgment to Israel and Gentile nations and to individuals in the Old Testament. WHY? His judgement is always right and just and it is always against nations and individuals that CHOOSE to do evil.
God created and wanted, a world that is good. Violence and evil came into the world when human sin freed demonic forces to do their wickedness back in the Garden of Eden. Sin and evil spiritual forces are the source of hatred, wickedness and violence, but if we think about it, God has not left them unrestrained. His judgment is a significant restraint on evil.
God is a God of judgment. Evil people and wicked nations are OR will be eventually destroyed. God intervenes directly to make sure that judgment occurs. God controls all judging Himself. We can never understand all the factors that surround the actions of a nation , or an individual, so we can never decide when a nation . . . or a person needs or deserves judgment. And we cannot decide when more mercy might give the nation or person the chance to repent. Judging a nation or a person requires enormous wisdom and knowledge, and that in my humble opinion is best left to the all-wise God.
God sometimes uses a wicked nation to execute judgement on another. For instance, the Medes and Persians were used to bring judgment against Babylon.
We should be glad that God judges wickedness, because it limits the damage that evil people can do. If wickedness were not subdued by God, life on Earth would be awful, much worse than it is now. God’s judgment insures that evil is continually brought down to size, and is the only thing that gives peace a chance.
God's judgment on Israel came down hard on them at times, because they did not follow His ways, BUT when they repented and turned from their wicked ways, He graciously forgave them, and restored them both to the land as well as in His favor. They could not keep the covenant they had agreed to with God at Mt. Sinai. God kept His part of the bargain, and the law itself was holy, just and good. It was Israel who failed to live up to what they had agreed. See: Ex. chapters 19-32.
We see many cases in the Bible where God does bring calamity upon a nation or a person who has been disobedient to Him. Some times when we are guilty, God may withhold judgment until a later time, or we may receive temporal judgment in this world right now at His Hands. This may be true for individuals but also for nations. The USA has certainly strayed from God in a massive way. We no longer have prophets bringing us warnings of God's judgment, BUT . . . we DO have the Bible! And we know that NO nation is ever exempt from the judgment of God when they turn their backs on Him. This booklet will show that.
Can God lie? NO way! When God speaks, His Words will be fulfilled to the letter! In the O.T., God brought severe judgments against Israel and other nations through catastrophic events. Does He still do this? Is God still the God of the O.T.? Any time that God used a natural disaster as a judgment in the O.T., it was due to His Holy and righteous WRATH against the people’s sin. The Bible reveals to us that it WAS God's Hand that brought about the calamity, and also WHY He did it! Today, we see people suffer from hurricanes, tornadoes, volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, tsunamis, droughts in one place and floods in another place . . . people say: “It’s Mother Nature.” I truly believe that it is this SAME God of the O.T. . . . the eternal and Creator God, the ONLY Almighty God who is still bringing about these “judgments” due to people’s sin! The natural disasters should be a wake-up call to people . . . but they are paying NO attention to Him! See: Mat. 24.
Judgments from God on Many People
Chapter 1
When God speaks, He means what He says, whether it is good or bad. He shall fulfill His Words. You can count on it!
On the old world. Background. Gen. 6:5 And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
Warning. Gen.6:7 And the Lord said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them. Furious because of the sins of the people, God threatens to destroy them.
Gen.6:17 And, behold, I, even I, do bring a flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh, wherein is the breath of life, from under heaven; and every thing that is in the earth shall die. God repeats His warning . . . then gives them over 100 years to repent and turn to Him. Not one does!
Fulfillment of judgment. Gen.7:21-22 And all flesh died that moved upon the earth, both of fowl, and of cattle, and of beast, and of every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth, and every man: [22] All in whose nostrils was the breath of life, of all that was in the dry land, died. God fulfilled His Promise! He does NOT lie! He CANNOT lie!
On Sodom and Gomorrah. Background. Gen.18:20-21 And the Lord said, Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous; [21] I will go down now, and see whether they have done altogether according to the cry of it, which is come unto me; and if not, I will know. The Lord went down from Heaven to see just how bad things were in Sodom and Gomorrah.
He did NOT want to destroy the people. Ezekiel 18:23 Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? saith the Lord God: and not that he should return from his ways, and live? The Lord wanted the people to repent of their wickedness, and live. They did not!
Abraham begged the Lord for mercy. Gen.18:23 And Abraham drew near, and said, Wilt thou also destroy the righteous with the wicked? He asked the Lord “If there are 50 . . . 45 . . . 40. . . 30 . . . 20 . . . 10, will you spare the city? Abraham went from 50 down to 10. The Lord said He would spare the city if there were just 10 righteous there. There were NOT even 10 there. In my humble opinion, there was NOT even one righteous person there OR God would have spared that person, because He spared Lot and his daughters.
Destruction fulfilled. Genesis 19:24-25 Then the Lord rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the Lord out of heaven; 25 And he overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the ground. God utterly destroyed the cities because of the immoral homosexual lifestyle! He did NOT lie! This should be a warning to the world today, but it is NOT!
On Egypt. Background. Moses was sent by the Lord to Pharaoh to ask him to let the Israelite slaves go. It took 10 horrible plagues before Pharaoh would free them.
Warning. Ex.9:14 For I will at this time send all my plagues upon thine heart, and upon thy servants, and upon thy people; that thou mayest know that there is none like me in all the earth. Moses delivers a horrible message to Pharaoh. Pharaoh was a man with a fierce and stubborn spirit. God will humble and bring down the proudest of His enemies. Because Pharaoh did not yield, the judgments of God would flow from Him to all Egypt.
Fulfillment in the Ten Plagues.
#1. Ex. 7:14-24/Blood. Fish die, the river smells, the people are without water. (Rev.8:10-11; 16:4).
#2 Ex. 8:1-15/Frogs. Frogs come up from the water and completely cover the land.
#3 Ex. 8:16-19/Lice. All dust of Egypt becomes masses of lice.
#4 Ex. 8:20-32/Flies. Swarms of flies cover the land. (Israel exempt).
#5 Ex. 9:1-7/Livestock. All the Egyptian livestock dies . . . but none of Israel’s cattle is even sick. (Israel exempt).
#6 Ex. 9:8-12/Boils. Horrible boils break out on everyone in Egypt. (Rev.16:1-2). (Israel exempt).
#7 Ex. 9:13-35/Hail. Hailstorms kill all the slaves and animals left out or unprotected and strip or destroy almost every plant. (Rev.8:7; 11:19; 16:21). (Israel exempt).
#8 Ex. 10:1-20/Locusts. Locusts cover Egypt and eat everything left after the hail. (Rev.9:1-12 different locusts).
#9 Ex. 10:21-29/Darkness. Total darkness covers Egypt for three days so no one can even move. (Rev.16:10-11). (Israel exempt).
#10 Ex. 11:1-12:33/Death of Firstborn. The firstborn of all the people and cattle of Egypt die . . . but Israel is spared. Pharaoh was indeed stubborn! It took 10 horribe plagues to convince him to let the people go! (Israel exempt, Ex.12:13).
God ALWAYS keeps His Word. He does NOT lie!
People of Ashdod. Background. They were stricken with God’s judgment because of their idolatry, lack of fear, unconcern and disrespect of God.
They tempted God. 1 Sam.5:1-2 And the Philistines took the ark of God, and brought it from Eben-ezer unto Ashdod. [2] When the Philistines took the ark of God, they brought it into the house of Dagon, and set it by Dagon. These people took the ark of God . . . a Holy possession of Israel . . . NO one except the tribe of Levi was permitted to touch it (Deut.31:25; Jos.3:3; 6:12). Majestic temples were built in honor of this idol, which was the principal ‘god’ of the Philistines. Worship of Dagon extended over all Syria. This idol was a combination of a human head, breast, and arms, joined to the belly and tail of a fish. The captured ark was placed in the temple of Dagon, right in front of this horrendous idol. 1 Sam.5:3-4 And when they of Ashdod arose early on the morrow, behold, Dagon was fallen upon his face to the earth before the ark of the Lord. And they took Dagon, and set him in his place again. [4] And when they arose early on the morrow morning, behold, Dagon was fallen upon his face to the ground before the ark of the Lord; and the head of Dagon and both the palms of his hands were cut off upon the threshold; only the stump of Dagon was left to him. God utterly demolished Dagon!
Judgment fulfilled. God’s righteous wrath came down hard on these people in the form of physical suffering. 1 Sam.5:6 But the hand of the Lord was heavy upon them of Ashdod, and he destroyed them, and smote them with emerods, even Ashdod and the coasts thereof. Emerods were/are bleeding piles, hemorrhoids in a very aggravated form. (Psalm 78:66; also 1 Sam.5:9).
---------------------------------
Amalekites. Background. The Amalekites were nomadic terrorists. They survived by attacking other nations, stealing their wealth and families. Israel could not live in peace as long as the Amalekites existed. Also their corrupt idolatry threatened Israel’s relationship with God. The only way to protect Israel was to utterly destroy these people. Sometimes we wonder about God’s decisions BUT . . . He is a God of wisdom and knows best in ALL things. We should NEVER question His decisions! His judgments are ALWAYS right!
God’s orders of judgment. 1 Sam.15:3 Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and
sheep, camel and ass. Saul disobeyed God and lost his kingdom because he destroyed only trash, and kept all the good things.
Israel in the Wilderness
Chapter 2
Israel. Background. Israel had witnessed first-hand the miracles that brought them out of the bondage in Egypt, yet they kept grumbling about something all the time. Num.14:22-23 Because all those men which have seen my glory, and my miracles, which I did in Egypt and in the wilderness, and have tempted me now these ten times, and have not hearkened to my voice; [23] Surely they shall not see the land which I sware unto their fathers, neither shall any of them that provoked me see it: Israel tempted God 10 times (Ex.14:11-12; 15:22-27; 16:2-3; 16:13-20; 16:27-29; 17:2-3; 32:7-10; Num.11:1-3; 11:4-9; 14:1-4).
See: http://hisservants.org/israel%27s_ten_failures_h_s.htm
Num.14:29 Your carcases shall fall in this wilderness; and all that were numbered of you, according to your whole number, from twenty years old and upward, which have murmured against me, All Israelites 20 years old or older would NOT see the Promised Land, but die in the wilderness. It happened!
Num.14:33-34 And your children shall wander in the wilderness forty years, and bear your whoredoms, until your carcases be wasted in the wilderness. [34] After the number of the days in which ye searched the land, even forty days, each day for a year, shall ye bear your iniquities, even forty years, and ye shall know my breach of promise. Because Israel refused to believe God, they died in the wilderness just as God promised. Only Caleb and Joshua were permitted to enter because they did believe God. This is how God came up with 40 years, a year for each day they searched the land.
Num.21:5 And the people spake against God, and against Moses, Wherefore have ye brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? for there is no bread, neither is there any water; and our soul loatheth this light bread. Israel was always grumbling about something . . . like us! We had better take God’s punishments on them seriously. They SHOULD be a dire warning to us!
Num.21:6 And the Lord sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died. God used venomous snakes to punish the people for their unbelief and complaining.
******More Judgments on Israel******
For worshiping Aaron’s calf. Background. While Moses was on the mountain, receiving the law from God, the people made a riotous demand from Aaron. This restless multitude was tired of waiting for Moses. Lack of patience will always lead to many temptations. Exodus 32:1 And when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down out of the mount, the people gathered themselves together unto Aaron, and said unto him, Up, make us gods, which shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him. Aaron made a golden calf for the people to worship.
Warning. Ex.32:33 And the Lord said unto Moses, Whosoever hath sinned against me, him will I blot out of my book.
Judgment fulfilled. Ex.32:35 And the Lord plagued the people, because they made the calf, which Aaron made. The Bible is silent as to what the plague was, but the Lord was furious at their rebellion and He would not go up in the midst of them (Ex.33:3).
This early backsliding into idolatry was just a starting point of their later apostasies. (Deut. 9:16; Neh. 9:18; 1 K.12:28; Ps.106:19; Acts 7:41).
--------------------------------
Israel delivered into the hands of the Assyrians. Background. Israel had turned her back on God and become so corrupt and immoral that the righteous judgment of an angry God was near.
Warning of God’s judgment. 2 Kings 17:7-13 For so it was, that the children of Israel had sinned against the Lord their God, which had brought them up out of the land of Egypt, from under the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and had feared other gods, [8] And walked in the statutes of the heathen, whom the Lord cast out from before the children of Israel, and of the kings of Israel, which they had made. [9] And the children of Israel did secretly those things that were not right against the Lord their God, and they built them high places in all their cities, from the tower of the watchmen to the fenced city. [10] And they set them up images and groves in every high hill, and under every green tree: [11] And there they burnt incense in all the high places, as did the heathen whom the Lord carried away before them; and wrought wicked things to provoke the Lord to anger: [12] For they served idols, whereof the Lord had said unto them, Ye shall not do this thing. [13] Yet the Lord testified against Israel, and against Judah, by all the prophets, and by all the seers, saying, Turn ye from your evil ways, and keep my commandments and my statutes, according to all the law which I commanded your fathers, and which I sent to you by my servants the prophets. Here is a full acquittal of God’s process in punishing His highly privileged, but rebellious and apostate people. Due to the gross perversion of the worship of the true God, and their lust to reverence idols, God’s patience was depleted; and because of this, the God whom they had forsaken, allowed them to go into captivity, that they might learn the difference between serving Him and serving their overbearing conquerors.
Judgment fulfilled. 2 Kings 17:5-6 Then the king of Assyria came up throughout all the land, and went up to Samaria, and besieged it three years. [6] In the ninth year of Hoshea the king of Assyria took Samaria, and carried Israel away into Assyria, and placed them in Halah and in Habor by the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes. The king of Assyria took over the whole land, and plagued it three years. Israel was carried away as prisoners placing them in strange cities. God has in the past and shall in the future punish apostasy and wickedness in ALL nations and ALL peoples!
-----------------------------------------------
Israel, for not keeping the Sabbath of the land. Background. Israel was to rest the land every 7 years. 70 years is the exact number of years of Sabbaths in 490 years, from Saul to the Babylonian captivity. The captivity was righteous retribution for Israel’s violation of the Sabbath (Lev.26:34-35; 2 Chron. 36:21).
Warning. Jer.25:3-7 From the thirteenth year of Josiah the son of Amon king of Judah, even unto this day, that is the three and twentieth year, the word of the Lord hath come unto me, and I have spoken unto you, rising early and speaking; but ye have not hearkened. [4] And the Lord hath sent unto you all his servants the prophets, rising early and sending them; but ye have not hearkened, nor inclined your ear to hear. [5] They said, Turn ye again now every one from his evil way, and from the evil of your doings, and dwell in the land that the Lord hath given unto you and to your fathers for ever and ever: [6] And go not after other gods to serve them, and to worship them, and provoke me not to anger with the works of your hands; and I will do you no hurt. [7] Yet ye have not hearkened unto me, saith the Lord; that ye might provoke me to anger with the works of your hands to your own hurt. Jeremiah spoke these words in 605 B.C., the year Nebuchadnezzar came to power. From Jer. 25:3 we learn that the beginning of Jeremiah’s ministry was in 627 B.C. He predicted the 70 years of captivity 20 years BEFORE it began.
Fulfillment. 2 Kings 24:11-14 And Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came against the city, and his servants did besiege it. [12] And Jehoiachin the king of Judah went out to the king of Babylon, he, and his mother, and his servants, and his princes, and his officers: and the king of Babylon took him in the eighth year of his reign. [13] And he carried out thence all the treasures of the house of the Lord, and the treasures of the king's house, and cut in pieces all the vessels of gold which Solomon king of Israel had made in the temple of the Lord, as the Lord had said. [14] And he carried away all Jerusalem, and all the princes, and all the mighty men of valour, even ten thousand captives, and all the craftsmen and smiths: none remained, save the poorest sort of the people of the land. . . . Just as God had promised.
--------------------------------------------------
Israel delivered into bondage several times. Background. God had set blessings before Israel IF they were obedient, but curses IF they disobeyed. Two things would bring devastation.
#1. Contempt for God’s Laws. They that reject His laws, will eventually forsake the covenant. #2. Contempt of His corrections.
If they would not learn to obey by their suffering, God Himself would be against them. This does NOT apply to just Israel . . . it applies to us as well! When anyone rebels against God, that is the reason for all their misery. And too, the whole creation would be at war with them, because God is Master of ALL His Creation. IT (Creation), unlike us, does obey God.
God foresaw all Israel’s rebellions, just as He foresees ours! Anyone who will not repent of their sins by God’s commands, shall bring God’s judgments down on themselves. An unrepentant, wicked sinner will find NO acceptance with God. God is absolutely righteous when He brings judgments on sinners. It is not that He does not warn a person or nation, because He does, in some way. He warned Israel over and over again! Lev.26:33 And I will scatter you among the heathen, and will draw out a sword after you: and your land shall be desolate, and your cities waste. God DID warn Israel. She still rebelled! So He scattered them just as He said He would. They are scattered in the four corners of the Earth (Isa.11:12) yet to this day. Some are in their home land but many are still scattered. They shall all return one day (Deut.30:4; Ps.14:7; 53:6; Isa.14:1; 54:3; 60:10; Jer.29:14; 30:10; 32:15; 32:41; 33:7; Zec.10:6; 14:11).
Deut. 28:36 The Lord shall bring thee, and thy king which thou shalt set over thee, unto a nation which neither thou nor thy fathers have known; and there shalt thou serve other gods, wood and stone. God CANNOT lie! He did scatter Israel!
Judgment on Individuals
Chapter 3
Achan. Background. Joshua 7:1-13 . . . At the fall of Jerico, there were some things set apart for the Lord. Achan had stolen some of these things, so the Lord was very angry with the Israelites. Achan’s sin began with the eye (Gen.3:6; Pro.14:12; Mat.4:9; 6:23; Mk.7:22; Jam.1:14; 2 Pet.2:18). He saw choice things, just as Eve saw the forbidden fruit. His heart then lusted after what his eyes saw . . . just like us. If we want to stay away from sinful actions, we must stop our lustful greed, (covetousness Luke 12:15; Col.3:5; Heb.13:5) especially of worldly wealth. If Achan would have looked upon those things with an eye of faith, he would have seen they were accursed! BUT . . . when he committed the sin, he tried to hide it. Sound familiar? As soon as he took his plunder, it became a great burden, and he was afraid to use his ill-gotten gain. Achan did not perish alone in his sin. His sons and daughters were put to death with him. It is most likely that they knew of the accursed things and helped to hide them.
Joshua 7:14-15 In the morning therefore ye shall be brought according to your tribes: and it shall be, that the tribe which the Lord taketh shall come according to the families thereof; and the family which the Lord shall take shall come by households; and the household which the Lord shall take shall come man by man. [15] And it shall be, that he that is taken with the accursed thing shall be burnt with fire, he and all that he hath: because he hath transgressed the covenant of the Lord, and because he hath wrought folly in Israel. God told Joshua what to do to find the guilty man. Joshua 7:16-24 gives the details.
Fulfillment. Joshua 7:25-26 And Joshua said, Why hast thou troubled us? the Lord shall trouble thee this day. And all Israel stoned him with stones, and burned them with fire, after they had stoned them with stones. [26] And they raised over him a great heap of stones unto this day. So the Lord turned from the fierceness of his anger. Wherefore the name of that place was called, The valley of Achor, unto this day. There are a just few places in the Bible that speak of cremation, this is one of them. To my knowledge, all the places mentioned are of evil people, NOT the righteous (1 Sam.l 31:12; 2 K. 23:20; Amos 2:1; 6:10). Many times the sin of one caused trouble for many.
-------------------------------------------------------
Aaron’s Sons: Nadab and Abihu. These were Levite priests! They KNEW what God’s commands were to them! Leviticus 10:1-3 And Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, took either of them his censer, and put fire therein, and put incense thereon, and offered strange fire before the Lord, which he commanded them not. [2] And there went out fire from the Lord, and devoured them, and they died before the Lord. [3] Then Moses said unto Aaron, This is it that the Lord spake, saying, I will be sanctified in them that come nigh me, and before all the people I will be glorified. And Aaron held his peace. Some may say that death was too severe for the sin they committed. But WHAT did God say? The Passage states: which he commanded them not. This is something to which we should pay attention, for it reveals the horror of the sin. SO, the penalty of DEATH was just. They had willfully and deliberately disobeyed the direct command of God. The fire that killed them, came from God! He is sovereign in ALL His dealings, and those who come to Him MUST come on His terms or not at all. To obey is better than sacrifice (1 Sam.15:22; Heb13:15). The high position of these men gave them NO immunity. God’s sudden execution of judgment here is startling. Don’t ever think that God can’t OR won’t move in with judgment today. He has, He does and He will!
------------------------------------------------
Eli’s Sons: Hophni and Phinehas. Background: 1 Sam. 2:12 Now the sons of Eli were sons of Belial; they knew not the Lord.
1 Sam.2:22 Now Eli was very old, and heard all that his sons did unto all Israel; and how they lay with the women that assembled at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. Priests were supposed to obey God and be an example to the people.
Warning: A prophet of God came to Eli and gave him this warning. 1 Sam.2:34 And this shall be a sign unto thee, that shall come upon thy two sons, on Hophni and Phinehas; in one day they shall die both of them.
Fulfillment. 1 Sam.4:11 And the ark of God was taken; and the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, were slain. The Philistines and the Israelites fight, and Israel loses the battle. There is a great slaughter of the Israelites, the ark of God is captured, and Eli’s sons, Hophni and Phinehas, are killed.
------------------------------------------
Jeroboam's Hand Withers. Background and Fulfillment. 1 Kings 13:1-5 And, behold, there came a man of God out of Judah by the word of the Lord unto Bethel: and Jeroboam stood by the altar to burn incense. [2] And he cried against the altar in the word of the Lord, and said, O altar, altar, thus saith the Lord; Behold, a child shall be born unto the house of David, Josiah by name; and upon thee shall he offer the priests of the high places that burn incense upon thee, and men's bones shall be burnt upon thee. [3] And he gave a sign the same day, saying, This is the sign which the Lord hath spoken; Behold, the altar shall be rent, and the ashes that are upon it shall be poured out. [4] And it came to pass, when king Jeroboam heard the saying of the man of God, which had cried against the altar in Bethel, that he put forth his hand from the altar, saying, Lay hold on him. And his hand, which he put forth against him, dried up, so that he could not pull it in again to him. [5] The altar also was rent, and the ashes poured out from the altar, according to the sign which the man of God had given by the word of the Lord. Who this man of God out of Judah was, cannot be certain, but it is certain that he came by divine authority. Jeroboam stood by the altar to burn incense at one of the annual festivals. The king himself was acting as the priest (a no-no). The prophet foretold its utter destruction [13:3].
Jeroboam was furious at the prophet’s words. He stretched out his hand and ordered his attendants to seize the prophet . . . BUT . . . at that exact moment the king's arm became stiff and motionless, and the altar split in two. The fire and ashes fell on the floor. THEN . . . 300 years later, this prophecy was fulfilled to the letter when Josiah killed the pagan priests at their own altars. See: 2 Kings 23:1-20. What God states . . . always comes true! God CANNOT lie!
The prophet himself for his disobedience is afterwards slain by a lion.
--------------------------------------------------------
Ahab. Background. 1 Kings 21:1-29 Jezebel had Naboth killed because he would not give up his vineyard to Ahab .
1 Kings 21:15-16 And it came to pass, when Jezebel heard that Naboth was stoned, and was dead, that Jezebel said to Ahab, Arise, take possession of the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite, which he refused to give thee for money: for Naboth is not alive, but dead. [16] And it came to pass, when Ahab heard that Naboth was dead, that Ahab rose up to go down to the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite, to take possession of it.
Warning. 1 Kings 21:17-19 And the word of the Lord came to Elijah the Tishbite, saying, [18] Arise, go down to meet Ahab king of Israel, which is in Samaria: behold, he is in the vineyard of Naboth, whither he is gone down to possess it. [19] And thou shalt speak unto him, saying, Thus saith the Lord, Hast thou killed, and also taken possession? And thou shalt speak unto him, saying, Thus saith the Lord, In the place where dogs licked the blood of Naboth shall dogs lick thy blood, even thine.
Fulfillment. 1 Kings 22:34-38 And a certain man drew a bow at a venture, and smote the king of Israel between the joints of the harness: wherefore he said unto the driver of his chariot, Turn thine hand, and carry me out of the host; for I am wounded. [35] And the battle increased that day: and the king was stayed up in his chariot against the Syrians, and died at even: and the blood ran out of the wound into the midst of the chariot. [36] And there went a proclamation throughout the host about the going down of the sun, saying, Every man to his city, and every man to his own country. [37] So the king died, and was brought to Samaria; and they buried the king in Samaria. [38] And one washed the chariot in the pool of Samaria; and the dogs licked up his blood; and they washed his armour; according unto the word of the Lord which he spake. Just as Elijah said it would happen.

Jezebel. Background. Jezebel is ranked as the most evil woman in the Bible. The Bible uses her name as an example of people who completely reject God (Rev. 2:20-21). Many pagan women married into Israel and did not acknowledge the God their husbands worshiped, but no one was as determined as Jezebel to make all Israel worship her gods. Jezebel held great power over her husband, Ahab, and also 850 assorted pagan priests. She always got what she wanted. She believed that Ahab had the right to possess anything he wanted. When Naboth refused to sell Ahab his vineyard, Jezebel had Naboth killed and took his land. Before she died, she lost her husband in combat and her son at the hand of Jehu, who took the throne by force.
Warning. 1 Kings 21:23 And of Jezebel also spake the Lord, saying, The dogs shall eat Jezebel by the wall of Jezreel. Elijah’s words from God. 2 Kings 9:10 And the dogs shall eat Jezebel in the portion of Jezreel, and there shall be none to bury her. And he opened the door, and fled. Elisha’s words from God.
Fulfillment. 2 Kings 9:30-37 And when Jehu was come to Jezreel, Jezebel heard of it; and she painted her face, and tired her head, and looked out at a window. [31] And as Jehu entered in at the gate, she said, Had Zimri peace, who slew his master? [32] And he lifted up his face to the window, and said, Who is on my side? who? And there looked out to him two or three eunuchs. [33] And he said, Throw her down. So they threw her down: and some of her blood was sprinkled on the wall, and on the horses: and he trode her under foot. [34] And when he was come in, he did eat and drink, and said, Go, see now this cursed woman, and bury her: for she is a king's daughter. [35] And they went to bury her: but they found no more of her than the skull, and the feet, and the palms of her hands. [36] Wherefore they came again, and told him. And he said, This is the word of the Lord, which he spake by his servant Elijah the Tishbite, saying, In the portion of Jezreel shall dogs eat the flesh of Jezebel: [37] And the carcase of Jezebel shall be as dung upon the face of the field in the portion of Jezreel; so that they shall not say, This is Jezebel. Instead of being afraid of Divine vengeance, Jezebel mocked fear. There is no surer sign of ruin, than a proud heart under God’s righteous judgment. Jezebel’s conduct seduced others to commit wickedness, and draw them away from truth and righteousness. In the end, her attendants delivered her up to death. The end of all pride and cruelty lies in the Hands of the Lord of righteousness.

Nebuchadnezzar. Background. Daniel 4:10-16 tell us of Nebuchadnezzar’s dream. It’s about a tree that grew . . . tall to Heaven, wide enough for the Earth to see. The tree represents Nebuchadnezzar and his kingdom of Babylon. The “watcher” and “holy one” is probably an angel. The Book of Daniel makes it very clear that God has created intelligences who manage His universe and this world in which we live. Many people think they can live in secret, that they are not under the eye of God. They are WRONG! We really have no privacy from God. Psalm 139:7–12 tells us that we cannot get away from God, no matter where we go. The tree was chopped down, but its stump remained. The heart of the ruler (the “tree”) was changed into that of an animal.
Warning. Daniel 4:27-30 Wherefore, O king, let my counsel be acceptable unto thee, and break off thy sins by righteousness, and thine iniquities by shewing mercy to the poor; if it may be a lengthening of thy tranquility. [28] All this came upon the king Nebuchadnezzar. [29] At the end of twelve months he walked in the palace of the kingdom of Babylon. [30] The king spake, and said, Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for the house of the kingdom by the might of my power, and for the honour of my majesty? Extreme egotism and pride was an obsession with Nebuchadnezzar. Pride is one of the things God hates, and it is something that pictures mankind so clearly. Nebuchadnezzar did NOT heed Daniel’s warning. God’s grace endured a year before His judgment fell. How patient God is! But His graciousness and longsuffering are not understood by the wicked (Ecc. 8:11). Nebuchadnezzar looked around his great kingdom, the kingdom which God had already told him that He had given to him (Dan.2:37). Despite all this, Nebuchadnezzar says, “Is not this great Babylon, that I have built?” I. . . I . . . I, me . . . me. . . me!
Most of the world thinks only of SELF . . . no one else. Add pride to self, and you have disaster in God’s eyes! His righteous judgment is sure to fall!
Fulfillment. Daniel 4:31-33 While the word was in the king's mouth, there fell a voice from heaven, saying, O king Nebuchadnezzar, to thee it is spoken; The kingdom is departed from thee. [32] And they shall drive thee from men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field: they shall make thee to eat grass as oxen, and seven times shall pass over thee, until thou know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will. [33] The same hour was the thing fulfilled upon Nebuchadnezzar: and he was driven from men, and did eat grass as oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven, till his hairs were grown like eagles' feathers, and his nails like birds' claws. The insane in that day were driven out rather than being placed in an institution for treatment. Under ordinary circumstances Nebuchadnezzar would never have been able to return to the throne; yet God promised that he would do so after he had learned his lesson. After 7 years Nebuchadnezzar did return to his throne.

Zacharias, John the Baptist’s father. Background. Zacharias was a Levite priest serving at the golden altar, the place of prayer. Suddenly an angel appeared. If you saw an angel, what would you do? Your reaction would be the same as Zacharias. You would be troubled and afraid.
The Message. Luke 1:13 But the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John. Both Zacharias and Elizabeth had long been praying for a child. Now when God tells him through the angel Gabriel, “I am going to give you a son,” Zacharias replies, “How do I know this?” Many people pray like this! They ask God for something, but really do not believe He is going to give it. This is one main reason we do not receive answers to our prayers. NO faith at all. Zacharias was human, and in the following verses, he is severely reprimanded and receives judgment.
His Judgment. Luke 1:18-20 And Zacharias said unto the angel, Whereby shall I know this? for I am an old man, and my wife well stricken in years. [19] And the angel answering said unto him, I am Gabriel, that stand in the presence of God; and am sent to speak unto thee, and to shew thee these glad tidings. [20] And, behold, thou shalt be dumb, and not able to speak, until the day that these things shall be performed, because thou believest not my words, which shall be fulfilled in their season. Because of his doubt and unbelief, Zacharias would not be able to speak until John the Baptist’s birth.
Fulfillment. Luke 1:59-64 And it came to pass, that on the eighth day they came to circumcise the child; and they called him Zacharias, after the name of his father. [60] And his mother answered and said, Not so; but he shall be called John. [61] And they said unto her, There is none of thy kindred that is called by this name. [62] And they made signs to his father, how he would have him called. [63] And he asked for a writing table, and wrote, saying, His name is John. And they marvelled all. [64] And his mouth was opened immediately, and his tongue loosed, and he spake, and praised God. We ALL must beware of doubting God, and unbelief!
-------------------------------------------
Ananias and Sapphira. Background. Ananias and Sapphira’s sin was lying, to GOD! Lies started back in the Garden of Eden with the serpent (Satan John 8:44), and continue down to today.
Acts 5:1-2 But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession, [2] And kept back part of the price, his wife also being privy to it, and brought a certain part, and laid it at the apostles' feet. There was NOTHING wrong in keeping part of the money back for themselves. The problem was that they lied that the money was the total price!
Peter confronts Ananias. Acts 5:3-4 But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land? [4] Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God. There are cults today who deny that the Holy Spirit is God. As you see here, Simon Peter believed He was God. First he says, “Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost?” Then Peter says, “Thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God.” The Holy Spirit IS God.
Fulfillment of God’s judgment on Ananias. Acts 5:5-6 And Ananias hearing these words fell down, and gave up the ghost: and great fear came on all them that heard these things. [6] And the young men arose, wound him up, and carried him out, and buried him. Ananias died at God’s Hand!
------------------------------------------
Sapphira now comes in and lies to God also. Acts 5:7-10 And it was about the space of three hours after, when his wife, not knowing what was done, came in. [8] And Peter answered unto her, Tell me whether ye sold the land for so much? And she said, Yea, for so much. [9] Then Peter said unto her, How is it that ye have agreed together to tempt the Spirit of the Lord? behold, the feet of them which have buried thy husband are at the door, and shall carry thee out. [10] Then fell she down straightway at his feet, and yielded up the ghost: and the young men came in, and found her dead, and, carrying her forth, buried her by her husband. Sapphira also died at God’s Hand!
-------------------------------------------
Herod. Background. Acts 12:2 states bluntly that Herod killed James, the brother of John with the sword. He killed James, but Peter will be miraculously preserved (Acts 12:6-11). Herod is cold-blooded and hardhearted, with no regard for human life. By executing the men who guarded Peter (vs.19), he is stating that he does not believe Peter’s escape was an act of God. He holds the guards responsible. He kills all the soldiers who were guarding Peter. Then he goes down to Caesarea on vacation.
Herod’s death. Acts 12:21-23 And upon a set day Herod, arrayed in royal apparel, sat upon his throne, and made an oration unto them. [22] And the people gave a shout, saying, It is the voice of a god, and not of a man. [23] And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost. Herod was arrogant and proud, but a very gifted speaker. He was a politician who would have been elected no matter what party he’d run for. The people praise him as a god . . . and the Lord God is greatly displeased. Herod refused to glorify God through the miracle of Peter’s escape from prison. And then he was willing to let the people deify him. God judges him. What a lesson we have here! Jewish historian, Josephus says of Herod . . .”And when he had been quite worn out by the pain in his belly for five days, he departed this life, being in the fifty-fourth year of his age, and in the seventh year of his reign” . . .
------------------------------------------
Elymas, the sorcerer. Background. Elymas symbolizes satanic opposition that is always present! The governor was under his influence. Sad to say, there are a great many rulers today who are under the influence of all kinds of cultisms which are in opposition to the Word of God and in opposition to the Gospel of Christ. Acts 13:6-8 And when they had gone through the isle unto Paphos, they found a certain sorcerer, a false prophet, a Jew, whose name was Bar-jesus: [7] Which was with the deputy of the country, Sergius Paulus, a prudent man; who called for Barnabas and Saul, and desired to hear the word of God. [8] But Elymas the sorcerer (for so is his name by interpretation) withstood them, seeking to turn away the deputy from the faith.
Warning. Acts 13:9-10 Then Saul, (who also is called Paul,) filled with the Holy Ghost, set his eyes on him, [10] And said, O full of all subtilty and all mischief, thou child of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord? This is the first time that Saul is called Paul. Paul may have been a mild man in some ways, but when he encountered this kind of opposition, he exposed it with all that was in him. He accredited it to Satan and he denounced it. We too today, must do the same!
Fulfillment. Acts 13:11 And now, behold, the hand of the Lord is upon thee, and thou shalt be blind, not seeing the sun for a season. And immediately there fell on him a mist and a darkness; and he went about seeking some to lead him by the hand. Elymas was already in spiritual darkness. Now, at the Hand of Almighty God, he is in physical darkness as well. God is absolutely right in ALL His ways, and when He judges a person or group of people or a nation, He is just in doing so. God CANNOT stand sin of any kind and He will judge it in some way at some time UNLESS the person, people or nation repents. The USA should take note of God’s Hand in judgment in the past, and realize that when He states that He shall punish sin, He shall do it!
--------------------------------------------------
Job 21:17 How oft is the candle of the wicked put out! and how oft cometh their destruction upon them! God distributeth sorrows in his anger. Many wealthy, powerful people never consider God and His judgment. But, unless they turn to God, they have nothing but God’s righteous and absolute judgment awaiting. Even in the height of their glory and power, there is just ONE step between them and total destruction. God is Judge of all the Earth, and He always does right, whether it is one person, a group of people, or an entire nation!
So vast is the time of eternity! Most people, rich or poor, famous or an unknown, a ruler or just a citizen, never consider it! But, at the end of each person’s life, God has the last say! Depending upon how that person lived, and what that person believed, will determine where they shall spend eternity. It will either be sighing or singing! Moaning in Hell or rejoicing in Heaven! It all boils down to . . . the choice is yours!
Jesus says that only a “few” are willing to walk the narrow road to Heaven with Him (Mat.7:13-14). Most of the world walks on that big, broad, deceiving and slippery road to Hell. The longer a person stays on that road the harder it is to get off!
One day ALL who have ever lived shall stand ALONE before the Great Judge Jesus. Please consider these words. Judgment is certain! Judgment is sure! And His judgment is always right. When you hear the verdict, you will not be able say that He is wrong, because He is NEVER wrong! You will NOT be able to hide from His judgment. God shall punish sin! God CANNOT lie!
Punishment of the Wicked
Chapter 4
Isaiah 13:11 And I will punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; and I will cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease, and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible. God states the terrible desolation of Babylon by the Medes and Persians. BUT, this goes for today too! Everything that a person has, he would give to save his life, but NO man’s riches, no matter how great, can possibly save his soul and keep him from condemnation to Hell.
John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
To believe in Jesus means that we realize that nothing we can ever do will gain us access to Heaven. NONE of our efforts can ever be sufficient. Our own efforts will NEVER find salvation of our soul. When Jesus talks about unbelievers, He means those who reject or ignore Him completely, not trusting in Him and Him alone to save their souls.
Consider the people who are wicked, cruel, corrupt and inhuman. Judgment Day will indeed be horrible with God’s wrath and fierce anger, far beyond what they can imagine! There will be NO place for the sinner to flee, NO way of escape. It is so sad, that so few people believe this. So sad that so many will have Hell as their eternal destiny.
----------------------------------------------
2 Thes. 1:8-9 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: [9] Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power; The ONLY key to being banished from this horrible place called Hell is faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. The “everlasting destruction” that Paul describes here is the lake of fire (Rev. 20:14). It is HELL . . . the place of eternal separation from God and all that is good. Anyone who is separated from God in eternity no longer has any hope for salvation. Hell is forever! NO exit doors! NO pardon! NO more mercy from God!
----------------------------------------------
Hebrews 3:18-19 And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not? [19] So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief. In many places, the Bible warns us not to “harden” our hearts. This means to stubbornly set ourselves against God so that we are no longer able to turn to Him for forgiveness. The Israelites became hardhearted when they disobeyed God’s command to take the Promised Land. Their disobedience was outright rebellion, brought about by doubt and unbelief in God’s ability (Num.13-14; 20; Psalm 95). Do not allow your heart to become hardened.
--------------------------------------------------
Ephes. 5:6 Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. Paul speaks against approving or compromising with the life-style of people who make excuses for sin. We must befriend unbelievers if we are to lead them to Christ, but we must be very careful of those who are corrupt, wicked, immoral, or opposed to all that Christianity stands for.
--------------------------------------------------
Galatians 6:8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. We reap what we sow, more than we sow and later than we sow. If you gossip or lie about your friends, you will lose their friendship. Every bad action has bad results. If you plant to please your own desires, you’ll reap a crop of sorrow and evil and on Judgment Day hear words you do NOT want to hear “Hell for eternity.” But . . . if you sow to please God, you’ll reap joy and everlasting life in Heaven. God gives us all a free will. I truly believe that we have this life on Earth to choose where we will spend eternity. Heaven? OR Hell?
Isaiah 3:11 Woe unto the wicked! it shall be ill with him: for the reward of his hands shall be given him. There are some people who seem proud of their sins, displaying them out in the open. In today’s world, sinful living appears to be more and more glamorous, exciting, and certainly more favorable. But sin is WRONG in God’s eyes no matter how society sees it, and in the end, sin will cause misery and destruction. Those who have no fear of God’s judgment, and are proud of their sins will receive the punishment they deserve from God. When someone rejects God’s path to life (Psalm 1), the only other option is the path to destruction (Mat.7:13-14). Choose wisely!
-------------------------------------------------
Matthew 16:27 For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works. Christ Jesus has been given the authority to judge ALL the Earth (Rom.14:9-11; Phil. 2:9-11). One day, ALL peoples shall acknowledge that Jesus is Lord, and EVERY knee shall bow in His awesome Presence . . . even those who now reject and scorn Him. When He comes in the glory of His Father with His angels . . . the wicked shall be judged according to their deeds (Job 34:11; Psalm 62:12; Pro. 12:14; 24:12; Isa.59:18; Jer.17:10; Eze.7:3; 7:27;16:59; 39:24; Rev.20:11-15). Believers too shall be judged at the Judgment Seat of Christ according to what they have done for the cause of Christ . . . after they were saved (1 Cor.3:11-15).
------------------------------------------------
Matthew 25:31-33 When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory: [32] And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats: [33] And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left. Jesus used sheep and goats to picture dividing believers and unbelievers on Judgment Day. Sheep and goats often grazed together but were separated when it came time to shear the sheep (Eze.34:17-24).
------------------------------------------
Matthew 25:41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: The Righteous Judge will separate His willing and obedient followers from hypocrites and unbelievers on Judgment Day.
-------------------------------------------------
Matthew 25:46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal. Sentence it seems is first executed, upon the wicked, in the sight of the righteous. The wicked descend into everlasting punishment . . . or, as in Mat.25:41, "everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels." The decisions of the Righteous Judge on this awful day will be final, irreversible, unending. If you do not know Jesus as your personal Saviour and Lord, please consider this fact according to the Bible.
------------------------------------------------
As you see, the theme of God’s judgement continues, from the O.T. to the New Testament. God does NOT change, ever! He has always hated sin, and He always will. He MUST punish sin or He would be a “liar.” So many people say: “A loving God would not send me to Hell.” God has NO choice! His Holy Word clearly tells us what we must do to be saved from Hell. It is OUR choice . . . each and every person has a free will and can make their own decisions. God will NEVER force us to come over to His side. He warns people over and over again what His rules are, but most people decide to go along with the world and the devil. So sad!
2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. We should live our lives realizing that time is short (Job 8:9; 14:2; Ps.39:5; 102:11; 103:15-16; 144:4; Jam.4:14). We should be ready to meet Christ at any time, maybe even today.
Judgment Day looms, and when you die physically, the Bible says that you have NO second chance, even though some major cults teach this abominable doctrine. Second chances after death is a “damnable heresy” (2 Pet.2:1). Please believe God!
------------------------------------------
Jesus’ commands to us (Mat.22:37-40) tell us that we must: #1. love God and #2. love one another . . . but He also warned elsewhere that anyone who continued in wickedness would eventually face judgment.
-------------------------------------------------
Luke 11:52 Woe unto you, lawyers! for ye have taken away the key of knowledge: ye entered not in yourselves, and them that were entering in ye hindered. Jesus criticized the Pharisees because they would not accept the Truth about Him, and prevented others from believing the Truth as well. This is so common today.
How did they take away the “key of knowledge”? Through their incorrect interpretations of Scripture and their added man-made rules (Mat.15:9; 2 Pet.2:1). Many cults have added their “commandments of men” to the Bible’s True Gospel. They teach “another gospel” and “another Jesus” (2 Cor.11:4; Gal.1:6) thus they are not able to “enter in” and they keep all those in their ‘religion’ from “entering in” as well. There is NO salvation in any other, there is NO other name under Heaven whereby we must be saved . . . ONLY Jesus can save us (Acts 4:12). Only Jesus can get us to Heaven (John 14:6).
There are some well-known, major cults today keeping people away from Heaven. Please be careful. Check out your church. If they are not teaching Jesus crucified and resurrected (the CROSS) get away fast! They are hindering your access to Heaven!
God’s judgment on wickedness shall continue until God casts out ALL evil in this world. The Book of Revelation tells us of further, future judgments to come. There is NO inconsistency between the O.T. and N.T. Righteous judging is a must and a very necessary part of God’s pure and holy character.
No Escape From God’s Judgment
Chapter 5
Exodus 20:7 Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain. God’s Name is special because it carries His personal identity. Using it for no good reason or in a curse or blasphemy, as is so common today, is a SIN against Almighty God. Millions fail to realize just how serious this is. The way that we use God’s Name reveals how we really feel about Him. We should ALWAYS respect and reverence His Holy Name and use it properly, speaking it only in praise or worship, NEVER in a curse or vulgar joke. We should NEVER take lightly the abuse or dishonor of His Name. The Lord will not hold anyone guiltless that takes His Name in vain. He will always punish the sins of those who hate Him.
Using the Lord’s name in “vain” means blasphemy. This is very common today. It is rare that a TV program or movie does not blaspheme God in some way. It is wrong to use God’s Name in vain because He is God and He is holy! It also reveals a lack of vocabulary. Many people cannot express themselves without using profanity. Someone once said: “When I was converted, I lost over half of my vocabulary!” I know what he meant. How does this Law apply to us in the New Testament? Taking the Lord’s Name in vain is a SIN (1 Cor.12:3; Col.3:8).
------------------------------------------------
Isaiah 2:10 Enter into the rock, and hide thee in the dust, for fear of the Lord, and for the glory of his majesty. Poetical way of saying that because of their sins, they would try to find a hiding place from His wrath (Rev. 6:15-16). Dust = caves.
------------------------------------------------
Isaiah 2:12-19 For the day of the Lord of hosts shall be upon every one that is proud and lofty, and upon every one that is lifted up; and he shall be brought low: [13] And upon all the cedars of Lebanon, that are high and lifted up, and upon all the oaks of Bashan, [14] And upon all the high mountains, and upon all the hills that are lifted up, [15] And upon every high tower, and upon every fenced wall, [16] And upon all the ships of Tarshish, and upon all pleasant pictures. [17] And the loftiness of man shall be bowed down, and the haughtiness of men shall be made low: and the Lord alone shall be exalted in that day. [18] And the idols he shall utterly abolish. [19] And they shall go into the holes of the rocks, and into the caves of the earth, for fear of the Lord, and for the glory of his majesty, when he ariseth to shake terribly the earth. Cedars and oaks is a symbol for proud nobles and princes (Amos 2:9; Zech. 11:1-2; Rev. 19:18-21). Bashan is east of Jordan, north of the Jabbok River; famous for fine oaks, pasture, and cattle. Oaks here may be referring to idolatry (Isa.1:29). High hills refers to the "high places" on which sacrifices were offered to idols. Come Judgment Day, God shall utterly demolish ALL idolatry! Hiding in caves will do NO good. There will be NO escape whatsoever from God’s judgment, no matter where you go.
------------------------------------------------
Isaiah 2:20-21 In that day a man shall cast his idols of silver, and his idols of gold, which they made each one for himself to worship, to the moles and to the bats; [21]To go into the clefts of the rocks, and into the tops of the ragged rocks, for fear of the Lord, and for the glory of his majesty, when he ariseth to shake terribly the earth. This applies to sinners who finally realize that they have sinned against God and are ready to leave everything that their soul may be saved. Hiding in mountains will do NO good. There will be absolutely NO escape from God’s judgment.
------------------------------------------------
Amos 9:1-4 I saw the Lord standing upon the altar: and he said, Smite the lintel of the door, that the posts may shake: and cut them in the head, all of them; and I will slay the last of them with the sword: he that fleeth of them shall not flee away, and he that escapeth of them shall not be delivered. [2] Though they dig into hell, thence shall mine hand take them; though they climb up to heaven, thence will I bring them down: [3] And though they hide themselves in the top of Carmel, I will search and take them out thence; and though they be hid from my sight in the bottom of the sea, thence will I command the serpent, and he shall bite them: [4] And though they go into captivity before their enemies, thence will I command the sword, and it shall slay them: and I will set mine eyes upon them for evil, and not for good. The Lord stands on the idolatrous altar at Bethel, to direct destruction of it and the idolatrous nation. So many in today’s world “profess” to be “Christians,” BUT, if they go along with the world, God will destroy them along with the evil world. He KNOWS a person’s heart! He CANNOT be fooled! Psalm 139:7-16 tells us there is NO place we can go to get away from God. This is good news for believers (God’s children), but bad news for unbelievers (the devil’s children, 1 John 3:10).
--------------------------------------------------
Matthew 23:33 Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell? The scribes and Pharisees were enemies to the Gospel of Christ, and to the salvation of men’s souls . . . just like cults today. It is bad for a person to keep away from Christ, but it is much worse to keep others from Him (Mat.18:6). Supposed godliness (2 Tim.3:5) is a thick veil behind which false professors hide. Hypocrisy shall be judged.
--------------------------------------------------
Rev. 6:16-17 And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: [17] For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand? Rulers who showed no fear of God and flaunted their unbelief will find that they were wrong, and in that day they will have to face God’s wrath. No one who has rejected God can survive the day of His wrath, but those who belong to Christ will receive a reward rather than punishment.

God’s Promises to the Righteous
Chapter 7
A God of Love to His Children
John 3:15-16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. [16] That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
God loves us and wants us to live in Heaven with Him. Everlasting in verse 15; eternal in verse 16. Forever!
John 14:1-3 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. [2] In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. [3] And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. Countless souls have heard or read these words of Jesus and had comfort beyond description, even in their deepest gloom. Every time I bring these words to a class, I can actually feel their relief! There is room for ALL who choose to be God’s children! There is a place for each and every one of them! NO one will be overlooked by the Father! NO one! Our precious Lord clearly states that IF it were not so . . . I would have told you! Jesus is GOD! He does NOT lie, ever! He CANNOT lie!
I will come again and receive you unto myself . . . this speaks of Jesus’ Personal appearing in the clouds when He comes in the next scheduled event on God’s calendar . . . the Rapture. Since God CANNOT lie, these words are very personal and comforting to the one reading or hearing. This should reassure us of our new Home, and we should also be assured that we shall be where He is, and in His safe keeping. All children of God are promised a “mansion” (dwelling place) in Heaven! Remember, God CANNOT lie!
Hebrews 4:9 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. God wants us to enter his rest. In the time of Moses, this rest was the Promised Land. For God’s TRUE children, it is peace with God now and eternal life in Heaven later. Salvation is never to be taken for granted! To receive this unspeakable GIFT (2 Cor.9:15) that God offers to us, requires faith, decision and commitment on our part.
1 Peter 1:4 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, Peter now gives us tremendous comfort in this verse. Incorruptible is something that cannot be mutilated or mangled in any way. Undefiled is something pure and holy. ALL God’s TRUE children can look forward to a family inheritance in the eternal City of God. God has reserved the inheritance, just for those who are righteous through His Son (1 Cor.1:30). Our mansion will never fade or decay . . . and it has our name on it. NO one can take it from us, it is there waiting for us! WOW!
Rev. 21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. No more tears, no more death, no more sorrow, no more crying, no more pain . . . I can’t even begin to imagine this!
Rev. 21:10-27 And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God, [11] Having the glory of God: and her light was like unto a stone most precious, even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal; Like a diamond! [12] And had a wall great and high, and had twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and names written thereon, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel: [13] On the east three gates; on the north three gates; on the south three gates; and on the west three gates. The wall and gates are symbolic . . . for security, in my humble opinion. [14] And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb. [15] And he that talked with me had a golden reed to measure the city, and the gates thereof, and the wall thereof. [16] And the city lieth foursquare, and the length is as large as the breadth: and he measured the city with the reed, twelve thousand furlongs. The length and the breadth and the height of it are equal. [17] And he measured the wall thereof, an hundred and forty and four cubits, according to the measure of a man, that is, of the angel. The City is about 1500 miles in each direction. [18] And the building of the wall of it was of jasper: and the city was pure gold, like unto clear glass. Perfect gold, transparent as no gold on Earth is. Excellence there seems impossible to us now. [19] And the foundations of the wall of the city were garnished with all manner of precious stones. The first foundation was jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, a chalcedony; the fourth, an emerald; [20] The fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardius; the seventh, chrysolite; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, a topaz; the tenth, a chrysoprasus; the eleventh, a jacinth; the twelfth, an amethyst. Every glistening color in the rainbow! [21] And the twelve gates were twelve pearls; every several gate was of one pearl: I cannot imaging a pearl this big. Had to be some huge oysters! and the street of the city was pure gold, as it were transparent glass. Again, we have this perfectly pure gold, like transparent glass! Can you see it? I can’t! [22] And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it. This tells us it is where the church will reside. The Temple is always associated with the Jews. There are some Jews in the church. Not all Jews have rejected their Saviour. [23] And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof. There will be no need for the sun or moon for light. The glory of God and the Lamb will be the Light there (Mat.17:2; Luke 1:79; 2:32; John 1:4,9; 3:19; 8:12; Psalm 104:2; 1 Tim. 6:16; 1 John 1:5; 2 Chron.7:2).
[24] And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it. Those who live on the new Earth will come to New Jerusalem to worship and honor God. [25] And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there. Gates will be open all the time, no night there. [26] And they shall bring the glory and honour of the nations into it. God shall be honored as He should be![27] And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life. NOT one evil thing will ever be permitted into Heaven. Only those who have their names in the Book of Life! Only those whom Jesus has given power to become children of God. Being born of God (born again) makes you spiritually alive and puts you in God’s family. Your name is then written in the Lamb’s Book of life. If you name is not in that book, you cannot, will NOT enter Heaven.
1 John 3:1 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.
Our awesome Creator God allows us to call Him Father! What a privilege His children have! Are you one of His children? Are you going to Heaven? If not, why not?
God’s Promises to the Wicked
Chapter 8
According to the Bible . . . ALL who reject Christ and His Work on the cross are considered “wicked.” They are, to God, the devil’s children (1 John 3:10), and they do NOT have their names in the Lamb’s Book of Life, so they shall never enter into Heaven (Rev.20:15). If your name is not found written in the Book of Life, you shall be cast into the Lake of Fire (Hell). That is a Promise from God.
The “wicked” are those on the left Hand of God. The “righteous” are those on the right Hand of God. Matthew 25:41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: Hell was created for the devil and the evil angels, BUT, IF a person persists on rejecting Jesus, God’s ONLY Plan of salvation, God considers them the devil’s children (Isa.30:1,9; Mat.13:38; Luke 16:8; Eph.2:3; Phil.3:18; 2 Pet.2:14). The devil’s children will go to Hell. Believe it! God CANNOT lie!
Matthew 25:46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal. “These” are the wicked. Hell is everlasting punishment. Non-stop! It is the final and eternal state of the wicked after the resurrection and the last judgment. After death, there are NO second chances as some cults falsely teach. Jesus warns over and over again against unbelief, because He is trying to save us from agonizing punishment. Believe God. He CANNOT lie!
Matthew 13:40-42 As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world. [41] The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity; [42] And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth. On Judgment Day, the end of the world as we know it, angels will separate ALL evil from the good. There are TRUE believers and false believers (hypocrites) in churches today. We do not know people’s hearts so we should be cautious in our judgments. Only Christ is qualified to make the final separation. ALL the ones on His left Hand shall be cast into the Lake of Fire where there shall be horrendous eternal suffering. God’s Words, not mine. God CANNOT lie!
Rev. 20:15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. At the Great White Throne Judgment, the books are opened (vs.12). They represent God’s judgment, and in them are recorded the deeds of everyone, good or evil. We are NOT saved by works, but what we do and how we do it are seen as evidence of a person’s real relationship with God. The book of life contains the names of those who have put their trust in Christ to save them. If your name is not in the Book of Life, Hell is your destiny. God’s Words, not mine.
2 Peter 2:4-6 For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment; [5] And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly; [6] And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly; If God did not spare angels, or people who lived before the Flood, or the sinners of Sodom and Gomorrah, He will NOT spare sinners of today. He CANNOT spare them or He would be a liar! Many cultic people want us to believe that God will save all people because He is so loving. The FALSE doctrine of Universalism is a damnable heresy (2 Pet.2:1) that is leading millions down the broad road to eternal destruction of Hell (Mat.7:13-14). It is absolute stupidity to think that God will cancel the last judgment. Just because people have changed, does not mean that God has changed. God has NOT changed, nor will He ever change (Ps.89:34; Mal.3;6; Rom.11:29; Jam.1:17). These three examples should warn us clearly that God judges sin and that unrepentant sinners CANNOT escape. God CANNOT LIE!
Mark 9:48 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. Could it be that regret of decisions in life on Earth is the never-dying worm? Jesus clearly tells us that we shall have a memory in eternity (Luke 16:22-31). To recall times when we could have made a different choice would be hard to bear when a soul is suffering in an eternal Hell. Fire is a symbol of God’s judgment . . . and it will not be quenched. God CANNOT lie. Please consider this fact!
Matthew 7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. Jesus exposed hypocrites in His day, people who sounded religious but had no personal relationship with Him.
On Judgment Day, only our personal relationship with Christ . . . our acceptance of Him as Saviour and Lord, and our obedience to Him, will matter. Many people think that if their good outweighs their bad, they will be rewarded with access to Heaven. They are WRONG according to the Bible. If you have NOT believed God (1 John 5:10-12), and accepted Jesus as your Saviour and Lord, Hell will be your destination, NOT Heaven! (John 3:18; 36; 8:24; 20:31; Acts 8:37; 1 Thes.4:14; 1 John 5:5; 4:15).
Luke 16:23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
“Hell” here is Hades, the temporary holding place for sinners. There is not yet anyone in Hell, the Lake of Fire (Rev.19:20). But, as you see from what Jesus says here, the rich man is in torments even though this is not even the real Hell. As I understand it, as soon as a person dies physically, their body and soul (spirit) are separated (Gen.3:19; Ps.104:29; Ecc.12:7; 2 Cor.5:6,8). The body goes back to the dust of the Earth, but the spirit goes back to God who gave it (Ecc.12:7). Since there is NO evil of any kind in Heaven (Rev.21:8,27), an unforgiven sinner CANNOT be allowed to enter Heaven, but is sent to Hades to await Judgment Day. When a born again believer (John 3:3-8; 1 Pet.1:23) dies, their spirit goes immediately into the Presence of the Lord (2 Cor.5:6,8).
Millions of people will die in their sins because they reject Christ, the only Way to be rescued from sin. Millions lust after what the world offers that they are blind to the priceless gift Christ offers. If you focus on this world’s values, you will miss the most valuable thing in your life . . . eternal life in Heaven with God.
Rev. 1:17-18 And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last: [18] I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death. Today millions have NO fear at all of Jesus. But, on Judgment Day it shall be a different story. Those sinners who blaspheme, hate, ignore, reject and scorn His Holy Name, will like John, fall at His Feet as dead! Jesus does indeed have the keys of Hell and death over ALL people and when He sits as Judge, the cultists and all idolaters shall acknowledge this FACT! Jesus has the authority to send to Hell all sinners.
Contrasting . . . Believers and Unbelievers
Chapter 9
Pro.11:18 The wicked worketh a deceitful work: but to him that soweth righteousness shall be a sure reward.
Pro.14:32 The wicked is driven away in his wickedness: but the righteous hath hope in his death.
Mat.3:12 Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.
Mat.13:30 Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.
Mat.13:49 So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just,
Mat.23:12 And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.
Mat.25:32-33 And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats: [33] And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.
1 Peter 3:12 For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil. TWO resurrections: the just and the unjust.
Daniel 12:2 And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. Heaven or Hell? Your choice!
John 5:28-29 Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, [29] And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation. Jesus’ Words.
Acts 24:15 And have hope toward God, which they themselves also allow, that there shall be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and unjust. ALL the dead shall be resurrected!
Rev. 20:5-6 But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. [6] Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.
As you can see from these Passages, there shall be TWO resurrections, one for the righteous or just, and another for the wicked or unjust. One unto the resurrection of eternal life in Heaven and one unto the resurrection of damnation in Hell.
I have not had pleasure in writing this booklet. I have a great burden for lost souls and I know that the Bible states only a “few” will make it to Heaven (Mat.7:13-14). This horrifies me. I have written this to show that God does NOT lie and that there IS a literal place called Hell, and hopefully the words within this book may make someone think seriously about where they will spend eternity. You cannot know when your time is up. Today is the day of salvation (2 Cor.6:2). Believe Him. God CANNOT lie!
The TRUTH about SALVATION
How does a person get to Heaven? Some cults and false religions teach that if the good things you do outweigh the bad, God will let you in. That is absolutely WRONG! It is a damnable heresy (2 Pet.2:1) If you believe this, you are headed for Hell (John 3:16, 18,36; 8:24; 14:6).
There is only ONE Way to Heaven according to the Bible. That is faith in the Blood of Jesus Christ. You could NEVER do enough good deeds in 100 life times to permit you access to Heaven. You could NEVER buy your way to Heaven with all the money in the world. You can NEVER perform enough rituals or sacraments no matter what church you belong to. Faith in Christ is the only way.
The Bible tells us we all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God (Rom.3:23). Since God allows nothing bad or evil to enter Heaven (Rev.21:8,27, 22:15), NO sinner is permitted. We must first believe God, and trust and accept what Jesus did for us on the cross. Only then will the Father credit our account with the righteousness of His Son (1 Cor.1:30; Rom.3:22, 25-26). Only our faith can make us right in God’s eyes, just as Abraham’s faith made him right in God’s eyes all those many years ago (Rom. 3:25-26; 4:3,5-6, 9,22; Gal.3:6).
We have no righteousness of our own (Isa.64:6), any righteousness we possess must come through faith in Christ (Philip. 3:9; Rom.5:1-2).
IF you think you can EARN your way to Heaven, IF you think that you can establish your own righteousness, you are SO wrong! IF you could earn your way to Heaven, then our precious Jesus died for nothing!
Galatians 2:21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain. If we could be saved by keeping the law, or doing good, then there was no need for Christ to die.
God is pure and holy. We are vile sinners, actually we are His enemies. God cannot even look at sin. We must be made “right” in His eyes to have fellowship with Him. Only acceptance of Jesus justifies us, gives us access to the Father and makes us His friends (Rom.5:1-10). There is NO other way! Many say that Way is too narrow (Mat.7:13-14). But friend, that Way is wide enough for the whole world IF they choose to walk it!
Many who seek God are confused about what He wants them to do. False teachers give many answers to this question. But salvation really is simple. Pleasing God does not come from any work we do, but from whom we believe. You must believe Jesus is who He claims to be. We must, like Peter believe He is the Christ, the Son of the living God (Mat.16:16).
John 6:28-29 Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? [29] Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent. The only “work” that God asks of us, is to BELIEVE Him! BELIEF !!!
Salvation is a Gift (Rom.6:23; Eph.2:8-9)! It is absolutely FREE to “whosoever.” John 3:15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. Jesus has the only KEY to Heaven! IF we believe in Him, we have everlasting life in Heaven. Believe God! (John 5:24; 1 John 5:10-12).
WHY WOULD HE SPARE YOU??
If God spared not the angels that did sin,
But cast them to Hades; all chained within.
Reserved in the darkness; judgment to wait,
Why would He spare you? for His Son you do hate.
If God spared not the old world, way back then,
But brought a flood, where the ungodly had been.
Saved just Noah’s family, out of respect,
Why would He spare you? for His Son you reject.
If God spared not Sodom and Gomorrha,
But turned them to ashes from brimstone and fire.
Made them an example, to not live in sin,
Why would He spare you? for His Son you won’t win.
God won’t spare filthy dreamers of today,
That preach Heaven by some other way.
And the ones that listen, and take it all in,
Won’t be spared either, for it’s all sin!
God made just ONE Way of salvation for man,
We must BELIEVE Him; accept His ONLY plan!
God sent His own Son to take away our sin,
Unless you believe and accept Christ; you can’t win!
