America is a Theocracy
Theocracy is a form of government in which one or more deities are recognized as supreme ruling authorities, giving divine guidance to human intermediaries who manage the government.
It could well be argued that Selfism has reached a major milestone in America of being a theocracy where it is now an official religion. Required adherence to the state-run religion began when public entities led the way, and private institutions felt forced to follow suit in regulating the absence of competing practices to legislating the imposition of conforming practices by:
#1. Schools . . . the removal of prayer from public schools to requiring reading of books promoting alternative lifestyles.
#2. Politics & Activism . . . from predictable tolerance by prosecuting physical hate crimes to forced acceptance of what the Bible calls sin, extending the bounds to include verbal “hate crimes” for simply stating that those acts are sinful.
#3. Employers . . . from removing preferment of religious beliefs during business hours and to disqualify from employment if candidates believe that marriage should be only between men and women. What started out as required adoption of Selfist principles by legislative and controlling bodies has now turned into massive voluntary promotion of deteriorating standards for social behavioral by private institutions across nearly all parts of society.
#4. Hollywood & Music . . . TV, movies and radio stations not only permit, but eagerly air self-indulgent, indecent ads unfit for the eyes of young children (making it increasingly difficult to enjoy an NFL game with my son without a DVR to skip the commercials)
#5. Internet & Social Media . . . Self-infatuation is totally evident in the rise of Selfies, Self-expression on social media, alternative Self-creation via video games and virtual reality, and makeover shows depicting rapid Self-transformations
#6. Churches . . . Selfism has even penetrated America’s churches as pastors concerned with growth accept and agree to this consumer culture by appealing to Selfist tendencies, preaching what our LORD Jesus would NOT preach for a better life, for answered prayers, for prosperity and cheap man-made salvation.
#7. Principles of Selfism . . . who are the adherents, saints, bishops and pastors of this new religion? Considering the lists above, the leaders of Selfism are the most ardent proponents of its central tenets.
Some Principles of SELFISM
Self is good . . . Selfism assumes human nature is “good”, while TRUE Christians understand that mankind and his desires are distinctively evil. When left to their own devices, unaffected by those invading their “identity bubble”, people will do the right thing. Values, ideals or standards forced by those outside a person’s identity bubble are “bad.”
Self is god . . . John 3:6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. (KJV) These Words of our Lord Jesus is totally reversed by Selfists. Flesh is spirit, leaving no room in their religion for the Holy Spirit. BEWARE! (Mat.12:31).
Selfism is a reincarnation of Eastern religions that teach inner divinity, a god complex whereby the “knowledge of good and evil” exists within each of us and self-actualization is the quest
In the name of respect, compassion and understanding, each person’s self-constructed identity bubble is insulated from attacks by those claiming the existence of a superior God
Selfism’s Leaders & Priorities . . . those ideas are broadcast most eagerly by the powerful leaders across Capitol Hill, Hollywood, media, academia and secular humanism. It is these same people who stand to benefit most from both self-promotion and promotion of Selfism because they have become the objects of worship in America today.
So many aspire to be like the famous self-absorbed celebrities who tout Selfist principles at every opportunity. TV shows, movies and magazines are loyal to cover each waking moment of our nation’s Celebrity worship is extremely persistent in our nation.
Those worshipping at the altar of Selfism view support of any “truths” or absolutes as unwelcomed burdens of personal beliefs on those who have already defined all of that for themselves. This Selfist theocracy even condemns and labels anyone questioning or infringing on another’s self-conceived notions or self-image as a bigot . . . thus instantly condemns them in the media. On the other hand, those taking a stand for their self-conceived identity against any purported assailants are passionately supported by Selfists and highly praised by the media.
Devotion to self-interest has virtually become the universal religion: "selfism" (the worship of self). Entire generations of children have grown up believing that self comes first. "You have to live for yourself." "You must love yourself before you can love anyone else." Selfists hold dearly to these ideas as absolute truth. Even when selfism ruins our lives, undermines our relationships, and casts out our highest ideals, people still bow down to the idol of self.
Even though the oppression of selfism is well entrenched, ANYONE can rebel at any time. So the question is: Will YOU rise up against it? OR will YOU live and die a slave to self and selfist ideology?
I want you to know that selfism is NOT something new. Selfism goes way back . . . as far back as Adam and Eve in the Garden! Wasn’t what Eve did ‘selfism’? And when she told Adam, did he not also eat of the great tasting food??? Genesis 3:6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. (KJV)
And so it has been with each new generation, and shall continue to be so! As you can easily see, selfishness is a problem for us all, for we all are combative and weak. And so it is, each era creates its own form of selfism.
Selfism is egoism and egoism is a moral theory that treats self-interest as the foundation of morality. So . . . egoism is arrogance, conceit, pride, self-importance, selfishness, self-centeredness, superiority, vanity . . . in other words: ME, ME, ME!!!
Selfism is NOT a story of the innocent public led astray by the emotional community and self-help professionals. Remember this . . . the public selects the leaders they want, voting with our time and our wallets. The common people wanted leadership that would support EGOISM, and they finally got what they wanted!
In response to popular demand, modern culture has simply done what ego always does: twisting any idea, any principle, any practice into destructive forms. Ego-minded customers have taken the idea of individuation and run with the ball . . . far in a damaging direction.
SELF has become an obsession of the community and, even though it admits that excessive egoism is unhealthy, most goals directly support and worsen egoism. Psychology has become the leading preacher of the gospel according to ego. So, there comes selfism.
