DANGEROUS TEACHINGS OF THE CHARISMATIC MOVEMENT
Consider the following:
Has God ever said that He wants everyone to be healed of disease?
Has God ever said that He wants everyone to be wealthy?
Has God ever said that He wants everyone to be able to command His angels?
Has God ever said that He wants everyone to be able to receive visions?
Has God ever said that He wants everyone to speak in tongues?
Has God ever said that He wants a special few to receive prophecies?
Has God ever said that He wants a special few to be able to see and cast out demons?
The answer to ALL the above is NO, NO, NO, absolutely NOT!
Now, consider . . . Has God ever said ANY of the following????
(1) Speak in tongues or you are not saved. . . . NO! He did not!
One of the main beliefs of the tongues movement is that you must speak in tongues because it is evidence of the Holy Spirit. Dear one . . . the EVIDENCE of the Holy Spirit in a believer’s life is their living for Christ. A TRUE Christian lives for Christ, he/she loves the world less, proof that God (Holy Spirit) is alive in their life. A person who is filled with the Holy Spirit is a person who is NOT filled with the world. 1 Cor. 5:11 But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat. (KJV)
Eph. 5:18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; (KJV)
(2) Speak in tongues or you do not have the Holy Spirit. . . . NO! He did not!
The FACT is that IF a person does NOT have the Holy Spirit, they are NOT saved.
Romans 8:9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. (KJV)
A person is baptized in the Holy Spirit at the moment of salvation which means their sins are washed away, it does not mean you speak in unintelligible garble.
1 Cor. 12:13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. (KJV)
John 7:37-39 In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. 38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. 39 (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.) (KJV) . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . http://www.godcannotlie.org/john_commentary_ch7.html
(3) Agreement in Prayer. . . . Misinterpreting God’s Holy Word!
Matthew 18:19 Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. (KJV)
This is misinterpreting the Bible. The above verse has to do with church discipline and has NOTHING to do with reaching a decision in prayer. The charismatics believe that if you and someone else agree on something in prayer, then it will be done. They say that prayer becomes the COMMAND of man to God. How stupid! God answers prayer according to HIS will, NOT our will! James 4:15 For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that. (KJV) . . . . . . . . . . . . . . http://www.godcannotlie.org/james_commentary_ch4.htm
Hebrews 6:3 And this will we do, if God permit. (KJV)
(4) Physical Healing. . . . Is NOT a part of the atonement!
Isaiah 53:5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. (KJV)
This is probably the second most important teaching of the tongues movement. It is the belief that God will heal according to the Promises in Scripture. All anyone has to do is have enough faith and God will do it. Isaiah 53:5 is usually used as the text for this belief. But, when we search the Scriptures, we clearly see that physical healing is NOT part of the Gospel.
1 Peter 2:24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. (KJV)
What is the setting concerning healing In 1 Peter 2:24? It is NOT physical healing, but instead spiritual healing! Being dead to sins has NOTHING at all to do with physical healing! Spiritual healing is what the Lord has in view. We have been healed from Spiritual death and resurrected to newness of life. Dear one, our awesome God can heal any and all disease IF he chooses to do so, but He has chosen not to do it. Some people become sick and die, others become sick and get well again. Even unbelievers who have no one praying for them, will be healed IF it is God’s will to do so.
The great apostle Paul prayed 3 times to be healed. God did NOT heal him!
2 Cor. 12:7-10 And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure. 8 For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. 9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong. (KJV) http://www.godcannotlie.org/2_cor_ch.12.html
(5) Certain people are anointed. . . . This is NOT true!
Many times the term anointed is referred to a Charismatic preacher or some message which was preached. Dear one . . . every TRUE believer is anointed by the Lord to bring the TRUE Gospel! 2 Cor. 1:21 Now he which stablisheth us with you in Christ, and hath anointed us, is God; (KJV) . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . http://www.godcannotlie.org/2_cor_ch.1.html
Anointed in this verse means to appoint with the idea of assigning a job. God gives us the jobs we are to do. Eph. 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. (KJV)
There is nothing secretive about this verse, for it states that the anointed are the ones who have jobs to do . . . and that task is bringing the TRUE Gospel to those around us.
1 John 2:27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him. (KJV)
Anointing here carries with it the meaning that TRUE believers receive knowledge by means of the teaching of the Holy Spirit who will teach them all things (Jn.16:13-14).
These Promises of God apply to all TRUE believers, NOT just a certain few. All Christians are commanded to be part of the Great Commission and woe unto them who pass off their task to others (Mk.16:15-16).
(6) God is still giving verbal messages. . . . This is NOT true!
There are many Christians who believe that the standard is still open and that God is continuing to give messages. This is NOT true and there is sufficient evidence in Scripture to show that the canon is closed. Deut. 4:2 Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you. (KJV) . . . Every time someone speaks in tongues or receives a so-called prophecy, they are ADDING TO God’s Word. They will DENY this fact if you say anything to them. Before the Bible was complete, God used visions, prophecies and tongues to deliver His Word to His people (Jews). Many of the visions are listed in Scripture such as Joseph’s vision, Jacob’s ladder, etc. If a person receives a vision today, it is NOT from God, so it has to be from Satan or his helpers (including drugs).
Proverbs 30:6 Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar. (KJV) . . . ALL those who ADD TO God’s word will be found out to be a liar. Every single Sunday, thousands of Charismatic churches meet and in every church there is always time given to hear prophecies . . . and all these prophecies are supposed to come from God . . . but they do NOT come from God!
Hebrews 1:1-2 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, 2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; (KJV)
God no longer uses prophets like He did in the Old Testament, because the Bible is now completed! https://carm.org/question-modern-prophets
Revelation 22:18-19 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: 19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. (KJV)
When the canon of Scripture from God was complete, God had said all He needed to say to mankind. This process of revelation continued until the whole of God's plan was completely revealed with the completion of the Book of Revelation. Some would say that the warning above, of NOT adding or taking away from the Scriptures applies just that of the Book of Revelation . . . but, its place as the last Book of the Bible and its revealing of what was past, present and future makes this limitation unlikely. Revelation 1:19 Write the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be hereafter; (KJV)
Our awesome Triune God not only revealed the Truth of John's day in the Book of Revelation, but in 18 of its 22 Chapters, He reveals what the future will hold until the end of this age and to eternal future.
(7) Prosperity. God wants you to be SPIRITUALLY rich, NOT worldly rich!
The damnable heresy of word-faith prosperity doctrine is garbage. That is definitely NOT a part of our salvation! If material riches are a part of our salvation, then why are so many Christians all over the world struggling? This heresy opposes the Word of God. Matthew 19:23-24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven. 24 And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. (KJV)
This FALSE teaching that God wants everybody rich is a damnable heresy (2 Pet.2:1) because it causes people to keep their eyes on the worldly things, NOT Jesus! And too, people WANT to hear this falsehood, because of their lust for worldly things. Another falsehood is that Jesus was rich. That is NOT what the Bible states! Matthew 8:20 And Jesus saith unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head. (KJV) . . . . . . . . . . . . . http://www.godcannotlie.org/matthew_ch8.html
(8) Dreams, signs and visions are readily accepted . . . Are they from God? NO! They are NOT from God!
Dreams, signs and visions are enthusiastically accepted with no question in this demonic movement. The BIG problem is that with these visions and dreams, Almighty God and His Holy Word take second place and all eyes are on the individual and their pretended claim.
Satan is giving many visions today and the Charismatic movement is where he has much success, because NO one there checks anything out with the Holy Bible! If Satan tempted our Lord Jesus (Mat.4), he certainly will tempt people today. BEWARE!!!
(9) Charismatics Over-do the power of Satan. . . . They lessen the power of God.
Another bad thing of the charismatic movement is overstating the power of Satan. I bind you Satan is one of their sayings. Dear one, Satan was bound at the cross and has NO authority over the TRUE believer . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . http://www.godcannotlie.org/true_children_of_god.htm
But, sad to say, far too many Biblical uneducated tongues speakers think that demons can indwell a believer. This is NOT so! To believe and teach this is to say that Satan has more power than the Holy Spirit . . . and that is certainly NOT true! 1 John 4:4Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. (KJV) http://www.godcannotlie.org/first_john_ch4.htm
The Holy Spirit indwells all TRUE believers and because the Holy Spirit is the Third Person of our awesome, eternal Triune God, NO one or NOTHING can remove Him from His children, and where the Holy Spirit (GOD) abides, the devil nor his demons can reside! John 14:16-17 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; 17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. (KJV) . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . http://www.godcannotlie.org/john_commentary_ch14.html
2 John 1:2 For the truth's sake, which dwelleth in us, and shall be with us for ever. (KJV)
Romans 8:9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. (KJV)
Satan has NO authority over anyone who is a redeemed child of God! God’s children should focus on the commission that we have to bring the Gospel, NOT focus on Satan. Mark 16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. (KJV) http://www.godcannotlie.org/mark_ch16.html
(10) Charismatics Distort the doctrine of the Holy Spirit. . . . They twist the Truth of the Bible.
John 16:13-14 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. 14 He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you. (KJV) . . . . . . . . http://www.godcannotlie.org/john_commentary_ch16.html
The mission of the Holy Spirit in the life of TRUE believers is to teach us about the Lord Jesus Christ and help us understand the meaning of Scriptures. The charismatics focus on the Holy Spirit as continually giving tongues and signs today. The Holy Spirit indwells TRUE believers, equipping us for the mission spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ to all those around us. The Holy Spirit does NOT draw believers to Himself, but rather guides into all Truth. He is called the Spirit of Truth (Jn.14:17; 15:26; 16:13), and because modern tongues are FALSE, He is NOT behind them.
As for being slain in the Spirit, and falling backward, which is supposedly triggered by the Holy Spirit . . . that totally opposes the Word of God! When the Scriptures mention backward, it is always in relation to judgment (Isa.1:4; 28:13; 1 Sam.4:18).
John 18:5-6 They answered him, Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus saith unto them, I am he. And Judas also, which betrayed him, stood with them. 6 As soon then as he had said unto them, I am he, they went backward, and fell to the ground. (KJV)
Even the term slain in the spirit opposes Scriptures! Romans 8:10And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. (KJV)
The Holy Spirit gives life and does NOT slay anyone. The slain in the spirit idea does NOT exist anywhere in Scripture and is another FALSE creation of this demonic movement. This spectacle gives people the WRONG IDEA that when they fall backward, they are somehow gifted with some type of extra, divine power from God. UTTER NONSENSE! This is still another deceptive trick used by the charismatics. The Holy Spirit brings life and peace to the believer, NOT judgment. The TRUE believer no longer faces judgment because of what Jesus did for us at Calvary, so slain in the spirit does NOT fit anywhere in the Christian testimony.
Baptism in the Holy Spirit is a separate event to Charismatics . . . for they think the Baptism in the Holy Ghost is an extra, separate event when a person is baptized in the Holy Spirit, and only then can they speak in tongues, which gives evidence of the Holy Spirit’s Presence in their life. The whole heart of the Baptism in the Holy Spirit is the washing away of our sins. Washing is the substance of the word baptism. A person who becomes a child of God has their sins washed away at the moment of salvation and it is NOT a future event. The proof that a person has the Spirit of God in their life is their spiritual walk by faith and NOT speaking in gibberish as modern tongues are.
2 Cor. 5:7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight:) (KJV)
IF you feel that you must speak in tongues to prove that the Holy Spirit in your life, then you are walking by sight and NOT by FAITH . . . and that dear one, is totally opposite to what the Bible tells us to do! BEWARE!!! Do NOT be led astray by damnable heresies!
Summary: The charismatic, tongues movement is the required link in the ecumenical movement. BEWARE!!! This Charismatic movement has empowered and strengthened the ecumenical movement which is unity at all costs. The Charismatic Movement disregards the doctrine of separation which the TRUE believer must obey. Any movement in any church which opposes the Holy Word of God must be avoided by a TRUE believer. If you are in a tongues church and become saved, you must leave that church because that is being obedient to the Scriptures. It is the same if a person is in a dead Protestant Church or the Roman Church and they become saved, then they must SEPARATE from those places.
2 Corinthians 6:14-18 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? 15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? 16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. 17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, 18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty. (KJV) http://www.godcannotlie.org/2_cor_ch.6.html
Ezekiel 44:23 And they shall teach my people the difference between the holy and profane, and cause them to discern between the unclean and the clean. (KJV) . . . The Charismatic tongues movement CANNOT teach anyone the difference between holy and profane because they are profane in that they oppose the Holy Word of God. BEWARE!!!
This article was not written for those who willingly choose to remain in this movement, it is written with the desire to warn those on the outside, who are seeking Truth, to stay away from this movement. It is dangerous and is NOT Biblical. Dear one, it does NOT represent the moving of the Holy Spirit in the last days . . . it represents the moving of the devil, because tongues, signs and wonders are part of the great delusion (2 Thes.2:11), that God is sending on the church in these final hours. I pray that you allow the Holy Spirit to lead, guide and direct you in all right paths. 1 Thes. 5:19 Quench not the Spirit. (KJV) . . . Let Him have a free reign in your life. You will never be sorry. Thank You Jesus!
