Are Catholics Christians?
WHAT does the Bible say that a TRUE Christian is? See our article: http://www.godcannotlie.org/true_children_of_god.htm
Saving Faith is believing in Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, a Living Person, for the forgiveness of sin and trusting Him because He ALONE can provide eternal life with God.
John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. (KJV) http://www.godcannotlie.org/john_commentary_ch14.html
Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. (KJV) . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . http://www.godcannotlie.org/book_of_acts_ch4.htm
It is NOT enough to simply believe in the actions of Jesus Christ or the abilities of God. True saving faith is more than that; it is a personal relationship with the Saviour. Saving faith is the key that determines our eternal destiny.
So, are Catholics Christians? They are if they have TRULY trusted in CHRIST JESUS ALONE for the forgiveness of their sins. Anyone who believes they are saved by God's grace AND their works, are NOT saved, because they deny that Christ's Once only Sacrifice was sufficient.
Being a Christian does NOT mean being a member of the Catholic Church . . . it means being a member of the body of Christ.
Romans 7:4 Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God. (KJV) . . . . . . . . . . . . http://www.godcannotlie.org/book_of_romans_ch.7.htm
1 Cor. 12:27 Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular. (KJV) http://www.godcannotlie.org/1_cor_ch12.htm
Ephesians 4:12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: (KJV) http://www.godcannotlie.org/eph_ch4.htm
And being member of the body of Christ is achieved by faith and trust in Christ Jesus alone for the forgiveness of our sins. It means none of us can do anything to add to the Work of Christ on the cross. Being sincere in our love for Christ does NOT forgive our sins. Membership in a church does NOT forgive our sins. Doing works of penance does NOT forgive our sins. Praying to Mary does NOT forgive our sins. Forgiveness comes when we in faith, trust and acceptance of Jesus' ONCE only Sacrifice on the cross. Only complete faith and trust in Jesus can make us Biblical saints! The word saints is found 96 times in the KJV of the Bible, and Roman popes have NOTHING to do with it! ONLY God can make us saints, when we believe in His Son Jesus!
Although the Catholic Church confirms the Trinity, the deity of Christ, and His physical resurrection, it is WRONG in its doctrine of salvation because it ADDS works to salvation.
They teach that the grace of God is infused into a baby at baptism . . . making him/her justified before God. This justification can be lost through sin and must be regained by repeated partaking in the many sacraments found in the Catholic Church. These sacraments are supposed to increase the measure of grace in the person by which he or she is enabled to do good works, which are in turn rewarded with the joy of heaven. Dear one, the Holy Word of Almighty God clearly states that we are justified by FAITH in Jesus!
John 5:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. (KJV) http://www.godcannotlie.org/john_commentary_ch5.html
Romans 1:16-17 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. 17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith. (KJV) . . . . . . . . . . . . http://www.godcannotlie.org/book_of_romans_ch.1.htm
Romans 3:24-26 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: 25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; 26 To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus. (KJV)
Romans 3:28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law. (KJV) . . . . . . . . . . . . http://www.godcannotlie.org/book_of_romans_ch.3.htm
Romans 5:1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: (KJV)
Romans 5:9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. (KJV) http://www.godcannotlie.org/book_of_romans_ch.3.htm
Galatians 3:6-11 Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness. 7 Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham. 8 And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed.
9 So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham. 10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them. 11 But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith. (KJV)
No one can know if a Catholic is truly a Christian or not because we do not know people's hearts. BUT . . . if anyone, Catholics included, openly deny the essential doctrines of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, then he/she is not saved. We should judge ourselves!
1 Cor. 11:31 For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged. (KJV)
The Catholic Church denies the essential doctrine of justification by faith. It says . . .
"If any one saith, that by faith alone the impious is justified; in such wise as to mean, that nothing else is required to co-operate in order to the obtaining the grace of Justification, and that it is not in any way necessary, that he be prepared and disposed by the movement of his own will; let him be anathema," (Canon 9, Council of Trent).
"If any one saith, that man is truly absolved from his sins and justified, because he assuredly believed himself absolved and justified; or, that no one is truly justified but he who believes himself justified; and that, by this faith alone, absolution and justification are effected; let him be anathema," (Canon 14, Council of Trent).
Biblical justification by faith alone is denied by Catholics, and Heaven is the reward for doing good works. The Catholics teach justification by faith AND works. SO . . . if a Catholic believes in the official Catholic teaching on salvation, then he/she is NOT a Christian since the official Catholic position OPPOSES the Scriptures. IF they were a TRUE Christian, they would leave the Catholic Church! Simple as that! The Catholic Church does not represent TRUE Christianity.
Jesus alone saves. Jesus alone is LORD. Only Jesus' Sacrifice on the cross can cleanse us. Only by faith in Him ALONE are we made right before God. Justification is by faith in Jesus, NOT by anything we do.
